Non-invasive, Fail Safe burst detection

Flo-Tel XD is the first Exd approved non-invasive fail safe detection system on the market. The system provides an excellent solution for identifying when a rupture disc functions within arduous operating conditions. Integral Flo-Tel XD includes an Exd junction box, with M20 tapping suitable for industry standard cable glands. Suitable for use in Zones 0, 1 and 2, subject to the EX concept chosen.

Customers may request a range of terminal types within the box ranging from 1.5 to 4 mm2 cross sectional area. These are suitable for most industry standard cables.

Once installed this detection system requires no further electrical maintenance. After rupturing, the disc is the only element to be replaced, thus eliminating expensive re-wiring costs. Failsafe checks maybe safely carried out by non-electrically trained fitters using Elfab’s unique Test-Tel unit.

System Operation

Operating on simple reed switch and magnet technology, Flo-Tel XD is designed to offer a practical solution for rupture disc detection needs.

The sensor is fitted into the holder with a magnet on the rupture disc. When the rupture disc bursts; the rupture disc with its magnet arc away from the sensor, giving an open circuit signal. After rupturing the disc is the only element that needs replacing.

  • Sensor is not in contact with the process therefore there are no potential leak paths
  • Non invasive design, therefore not affected by downstream pressure fluctuations or corrosion
  • IP 66 and IP 67 rated
  • Inbuilt thermistor provides data on the temperature of the process

 

The Flo-Tel XD has additionally, successfully passed IP66 testing in accordance with IEC 60529.

Maximum process temperature 300°C.
Minimum process temperature -40°C.
