Fail-Safe Burst Detection for Rupture Disc Plugs

OE-Tel is a simple fail safe detection system which has been designed to provide a reliable solution for a wide variety of rupture disc threaded plug units. This highly designed product provides an excellent solution for identifying when a rupture disc plug functions within arduous operating conditions.

Offering additional customer benefits

OE-Tel is the first ATEX-approved detection system for rupture disc plugs. Compatible with Elfab’s O4A and OE6 rupture disc plugs, OE-Tel offers additional benefits to customers who have traditionally not had access to a compatible burst indication system. Not affected by downstream pressure fluctuations or corrosion, this ATEX-approved device is able to operate in all levels of potential explosive atmospheres. As the sensor is not in contact with the process there are no potential leak paths.

System Operation

Operating on simple reed switch and magnet technology, the sensor and the magnet are both situated within the OE-Tel body. When the disc bursts, the magnet moves away from the reed switch, and breaks the electrical connection. OE-Tel is a one use only device and should be replaced in line with the rupture disc plug. The OE-Tel burst detector is IP 66 rated and must be connected to an intrinsically safe supply that is compatible with values:

Ui = 30 V
Ii = 300 mA
Pi = 550 mA

Technical Characteristics

Dependent on the customers’ requirements this device can also be connected to a remote telemetry system, ensuring minimal operational downtime. OE-Tel can withstand operating temperatures of -55°C to 90°C and be used with burst pressures up to 100 BarG meaning this device is suitable for use in a wide range of customer applications where either Stainless Steel or Brass rupture disc plugs are being used.
