The Elfab Extruder Rupture Disc (ERD) is a high performance pressure relief device primarily designed for overpressure protection of the plastic extrusion process. Using our state-of-the-art in-house manufacturing capabilities we will work with our customers to provide a cost-effective solution for this application. The ERD is available in a wide range of configurations on industry best lead-times.
Leak-tight designs for advanced process management
Each of Elfab’s Extruder Rupture Discs consists of a threaded body with a conventional rupture disc welded to the end. This ensures the disc sits flush with the extruders pressure vessel wall, preventing potentially damaging product build-up. Understanding the need for tight process management and leakage control, Elfab manufacture each device using our advance in-house electron beam welding capability. Elfab can supply these devices with leak rates as low as 10-8 cc/sec. As each ERD application is different a combination of dimensions, thread types and body configurations are available.
Widest range of sizes and burst pressures
Available across a wide range of burst pressures in industry common sizes and thread types from 46mm (1.81”) to 165mm (6.5”) long with a 5mm nominal bore Inconel rupture disc in a Stainless Steel Body. Our advanced in-house engineering capability also enables us to work with each customer on an individual basis to custom engineer a unique design to meet varying specifications. Elfab manufacture the ERD with a range of head configurations to allow for ease of installation and compatibility with this industrial application.
