Wednesday 2nd of May 2018 - Wednesday 2nd of May 2018, 1pm - 5pm
Elfab is hosting an industry tour in partnership with IChemE Tyneside Members Group. The event will focus on the importance of process safety in the processing industry.
In addition to a plant tour of Elfab’s manufacturing facility where you will be able to find out more about the manufacturing of bursting discs and their key role in process safety, there will be talks from two Process Safety Experts; David Hatch from Process Safety Integrity will present on visual HAZOP and Stephen Beedle from ABB will present on SIL Determination (LOPA).
David Hatch, Process Safety Integrity – presentation titled Visual HAZOP
David is a process hazard analyst & safety specialist with over 30 years’ experience of Major Accident Hazard facilities and Design, Operating & Consulting roles in highly regulated industries including Oil & Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Energy & Chemicals. He has recently been promoting the technique (provisionally referred to as ‘visual Hazard and Operability Study – HAZOP’) which combines the guideword/deviation rigour of HAZOP with the communication benefits of ‘Bow Tie’ analysis. He will show how bowties can be used to visualise existing HAZOP and conduct original HAZOP studies and highlight the need to track barrier performance (safeguard effectiveness) as part of audits (planned demands) and incident investigations (unplanned demands). David is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers and a Professional Process Safety Engineer.
Stephen Beedle, ABB – presentation titled SIL Determination (LOPA)
Stephen has worked in the UK Chemical Industry for over 30 years. He commenced his career with ICI and Zeneca and held various plant roles in design, development and commissioning. He then moved to ABB as a Process Safety Consultant. Since 2000 he has worked as a consultant within the HSE Management Group of ABB Consultancy involved in various HSE services including hazard studies, SIL assessment, risk assessment, consequence and severity assessments and COMAH safety reports.
Stephen is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers and a Professional Process Safety Engineer.
