Pressure gauge device, critical to process safety
Tel-Tale (Tell-Tale), often known as a “gauge with drag pointer” is a mandatory requirement for various relief systems such as double disc assemblies, or disc and valve combination, in which safety critical measures need to be taken in order to avoid any unnoticed pressure increases between the rupture disc and valve inlet.
Elfab’s Tel-Tale gauge works by registering any pressure that is present and indicating this pressure rise with the use of a “tel-tale” stick. The benefit of this is even if there is no pressure in the space when the operator does his rounds, he will be able to tell that the “tel-tale” stick has moved. A regular pressure gauge is not capable of this, as its stick returns to zero if the pressure in the space goes back to zero.
Supports with process uptime
Replacing regular gauges with Tel-Tale devices can support with maintenance schedules, providing more accurate information on process conditions. Understanding pressure changes in the process can in turn help reduce costly downtime by allowing customers to change rupture discs at the appropriate time or if necessary, work with the manufacturer to upgrade to a rupture disc that better suits their process conditions.
When used in combination with industry leading detection system Flo-Tel+™, customers can improve production and enhance process safety.
ASME code and regulations require that the space between a rupture disc device and safety relief valve shall be provided with a pressure gauge or a suitable “tel-tale” indicator. Elfab are accredited to a number of industry leading quality standards and approvals. For a double disc assembly, ASME code requires a “tel-tale” indicator to be used in situ.
