Overpressure protection for high-
voltage switchgear applications
Our switchgear rupture discs are typically installed onto Gas Insulated Systems (GIS) such as switchgear units, instrument transformers and circuit breakers to contain the pressurised dielectric gas.
Should an arc event occur due to an internal short circuit or external fire, the rupture disc removes the risk of a pressure explosion, It allows safe venting for the insulating gas and protects personnel working in the area.
The disc is mounted directly onto the equipment within customer specific flanges. This reduces installation time and eliminates the need for separate holders. As a result, the discs provide the utmost safety for employees and the environment.
They can withstand full vacuum and benefit from a superior leak tightness of 10-6 cc/sec. This affords them a long operational life in both indoor and outdoor applications.
